Chapel

These strategies use the rule based strategy algorithm.

Variant: Single chapel canonical 1

Buy rules:
- CHAPEL: money <5, max 1 chapel
- PROVINCE: always
- GOLD: always
- SILVER:always
Play rules:
- CHAPEL: play if it would trash at least one card. Evaluate each card in hand:
  - ESTATE: always
  - COPPER: total money >= 3, unless:
        - chapeling _this_ copper would prevent a province buy.
        - chapeling _this_ copper would prevent a gold buy.
        - we have a silver in hand and chapeling _this_ copper 
          would prevent a silver buy.

Note: total money = total value of all treasure card a player owns.
Example: of the hand [Copper, Copper, Silver, Estate, Chapel] this algorithm trashes: [Copper, Estate]

Rating:
This strategy scores 32% against Bmu and 49% against Bmc.

Variant: Single chapel 1

Buy rules:
- CHAPEL: money <5, max 1 chapel
- PROVINCE: gold bougth >= 1 [g]
- DUCHY: provinces left <= 3 [d]
- ESTATE: provinces left <= 2 [e]
- GOLD: always
- SILVER:always
Play rules:
- CHAPEL: play if it would trash at least one card. Evaluate each card in hand:
  - ESTATE: provinces left >= 4 [f]
  - COPPER: total money >= 3, unless:
        - chapeling _this_ copper would prevent a province buy.
        - chapeling _this_ copper would prevent a duchy buy.
        - chapeling _this_ copper would prevent an estate buy.
        - chapeling _this_ copper would prevent a gold buy.
        - we have a silver in hand and chapeling _this_ copper 
          would prevent a silver buy.

Rating:
This strategy scores 55% against Bmu.

Variant: Chapelab 1
This is my best chapelab strategy and is using Matt’s trashing rules.

Buy rules:
- CHAPEL: money <5, max 1 chapel
- PROVINCE: always
- DUCHY: provinces left <= 2 [d]
- ESTATE: provinces left <= 1 [e]
- GOLD: always
- LABORATORY: max 4
- SILVER:always
Play rules:
- LABORATORY: always
- CHAPEL: play if it would trash at least one card. Evaluate each card in hand:
  - ESTATE: provinces left <= 4 [f]
  - COPPER: always unless total money would go below 6

Rating:
This strategy scores 66% against Bmu.

Variant: Chapelab Matt
This is a recreation of a strategy by Matt Sargent from Board Game Geek. He describes the strategy Here. I have taken the liberty of adding buy rules for duchies and estates similar to Bmu and found [1/1] to be optimal.

Buy rules:
- CHAPEL: money <5, max 1 chapel
- PROVINCE: always
- DUCHY: provinces left <= 1 [d]
- ESTATE: provinces left <= 1 [e]
- GOLD: max 2
- LABORATORY: max 4
- SILVER: golds owned < 2 
Play rules:
- LABORATORY: always
- CHAPEL: play if it would trash at least one card. Evaluate each card in hand:
  - ESTATE: provinces left <= 4 [f]
  - COPPER: always unless total money would go below 6

Rating:
This strategy scores 61% against Bmu.
